My Testimony
Have you ever been confused by all of the religions out there? Have you every wondered, "Which ones right? What's the truth?" Can I share with you what I found and why I no longer have any doubts about what's true?
As a young teenager I didn't believe in God and certainly didn't care about religion. The truth didn't matter to me. I just wanted to enjoy life and have fun. My goal was to get rich, have a family, enjoy the pleasures of life and then die. Truth was relative. It could be whatever I wanted it to be. Who cares what any religion says? I thought that as long as I got to live my life the way I wanted, then I was going to be happy.
I was on my way to becoming a doctor, when all of a sudden reality hit. One day while I was in college, I started wondering about what really mattered in life. I started a quest for truth. One day, a young man in my dorms opened the Bible and shared a verse with me. "Jesus said, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me.'" He then proceeded to tell me about the truth of my situation in life. He explained to me that I was not a good person. That because I have lied, stolen, blasphemed God's name, lusted after women, and much more; I was guilty before God on the great Day of Judgment. He told me that because of these sins I deserved hell. However, there was hope for me. God loved me so much that he provided a way for me to be set free from my sin. He described to me how Jesus had died on the cross for my sins, and was raised from the dead on the third day. He told me that if I repent and trust in Jesus, I could live with God forever. The truth was that I was a criminal that needed to be set free. Jesus was the truth and the only person that could save me from what I deserved and set me free.
After I heard this message, I thanked my friend and began to study all the religions of the world. Finding out the truth became my passion. After two months of careful study in various religious books and the Bible, I realized the truth. I was a wretched sinner that needed a Savior! I needed God's grace, mercy, and forgiveness. I realized that Jesus was the truth and that if I wanted to have a relationship with God and enter into heaven I had to trust in him like you would a parachute. Nobody would ever jump out of an airplane without a parachute. Instead, skydivers strap a parachute on and trust that it will get them safely to the ground. The same was true with Jesus. I need to trust in him like a parachute to save me on the Day of Judgment so that I could receive everlasting life with God in heaven.
So one day in October 2000, I made the decision to trust in Christ. I prayed to God, "Lord forgive me of my sins. I see now I need you Jesus. I am trusting in you to save me from the punishment I deserve. Please come into my life. I want to follow you now." As a result, my life began to dramatically change. As an example, I realized that being honest mattered. Therefore, I stopped lying and deceiving other people. I no longer cared about getting rich and wasn't concerned with being happy here on earth. The truth was that those things will all perish in time. Instead, I wanted to study and be a part of something that really mattered. So I finished my pre-medical school training and then went to seminary, so that I could find out more of the truth in God's Word. Now I'm not saying everything is perfect in life and that I know everything. What I am saying is that Jesus is the truth. If you want to be free from the penalties of sin and have a relationship with God, you have to go through Jesus. There is no other way to be saved.
My Family
I am married to my wonderful wife Cami. Our son, Logan is 3 years old. We are currently praying that God blesses us with another child later this year.
My Passion
I am committed to training disciples as well as reaching the lost with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. I love evangelism and have experience from street preaching to one-to-one witnessing. It is my goal to encourage and train other believers to share their faith biblically, effectively, and with the power of the Holy Spirit.
My Education
I earned a Bachelors degree in chemistry in 2002 from Sonoma State University and am presently working full-time with L.A. County Sanitation Districts. I have 6 years experience in the field, but my true passion is Christ. I am currently a student at Talbot School of Theology, where I am finishing coursework for a Master's of Divinity (M.Div.).
