The Woodland Hills Church began as The Little Church of Sherman Oaks in the late 1930s under the leadership of Pastor Carl Hatch. It became affiliated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance in 1962.
In 1970 it became apparent that the church needed to change location and the transition to the West Valley began. On July 4, 1971 we started services in the American Legion Hall on Fallbrook Ave in Woodland Hills. After meeting in this location for two years, the churches growing congregation moved to the recently vacant Platt Ranch Community Church facility. Property was purchased at our present Fallbrook Avenue location, and the groundbreaking ceremony was held on July 4th, 1975. Construction soon began on the new sanctuary and classrooms under the watchful eye of Henderson Martens. Services began at our current location in September 1976. Pastor Paul Currie became the pastor in September 1977 and served until his retirement.
Today our ministry is under the capable leadership of Pastor Dr. J Kent Edwards. While times have changed our mission has remained the same. Our goal is to invite people into a passionate relationship with Jesus Christ.
Woodland Hills Church is a growing and thriving congregation of people from all walks of life, who have purposed in their hearts to come together and work for the Kingdom of God. We are a multicultural group of people from a wide range of backgrounds who have put aside their differences and committed themselves to sharing with others the Good News of what a passionate relationship with Jesus Christ means in our lives.
As believers, who are passionate about sharing the Gospel with a hurting world. We come together to demonstrate our commitment to Christian living by offering our abilities and time, not just empty words. Serving without grumbling, wherever God may lead.
Affiliated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance, Woodland Hills Church is now under the capable leadership of Pastor Dr. J Kent Edwards.
